Wrapping up the year with Christmas cheer
As 2025 comes to an end, our Barnardos Early Learning whānau have been busy celebrating, reflecting, and sharing special moments together. Across our Early Learning Centres and Home Based services, tamariki, whānau, kaiako, educators, and visiting teachers have come together to mark the end of another incredible year of ako, whakapapa and kotahitanga.
From festive performances and shared kai to community celebrations and moments of laughter, Christmas has been a time to pause and acknowledge the relationships that make Barnardos Early Learning such a special place. It has been a year filled with growth, curiosity, and meaningful experiences, and these celebrations have been a beautiful way to honour that journey together.
Spreading Christmas Joy at Community Parades
Our teams proudly took part in the Palmerston North and Levin Christmas parades, decorating a Barnardos Early Learning car and spreading festive cheer through the streets. With sunshine, Christmas tunes, and lollies for the crowds, it was a wonderful opportunity to connect with local communities and celebrate the season together.
Christmas Celebrations in Manurewa
In Manurewa, the festive spirit was in full swing as Santa arrived to deliver presents to every child, bringing smiles and excitement all around. Whānau shared food together, embracing the true spirit of Christmas through generosity, togetherness, and celebration.
Celebrating the End of Year in Rakaia
Rakaia Home Based tamariki came together for a beautiful end of year Christmas celebration, led by Monique, one of our wonderful Home Based Educators. The gathering reflected the spirit of whakawhanaungatanga, bringing tamariki and whānau together to connect, celebrate, and enjoy time with one another. The Rakaia Community Centre was filled with festive fun, including a bouncy castle, creative craft stations, a nativity story, and a special visit from Santa. Whānau also enjoyed kai and coffee while soaking up the warm, welcoming atmosphere, making it a truly special way to wrap up the year together.
A festive feast and performances at Māngere
Māngere came together for a shared Christmas kai, with tamariki and whānau enjoying a table full of delicious food. Tamariki delighted everyone with songs and dance performances, joined by some surprise visitors including dinosaurs and a familiar Mario Kart character. The celebration was rounded off with a heartfelt speech from the Centre Manager Deloshnee, making it a truly memorable way to end the year.
Christmas Celebration with Our Home Based Educators
Our Home Based Educators from Kāpiti, Manawatu, and Whanganui came together for a festive celebration, reflecting on the year that has been and sharing plenty of laughs along the way. Visiting Teachers Julie, Carleen, and Emma created a joyful atmosphere with games, music, and Christmas bingo, followed by delicious kai. A highlight of the day was the present table, complete with playful gift swapping and lots of giggles.
As we look back on the year that has been, we are incredibly grateful for our tamariki, whānau, kaiako, Educators, visiting teachers, and all the special people who bring care, commitment, and magic to Barnardos Early Learning every day. These Christmas moments are a reflection of the strong relationships and shared values that sit at the heart of everything we do.
We wish all our whānau a safe and joyful holiday season, and we look forward to welcoming 2026 together.
